Pick whatever you like at Taqueria Ramirez — Greenpoint’s cult taqueria serves the most sought-after tacos on the East Coast

Lines form early for Taqueria Ramirez, where Giovanni Cervantes and Tania Apolinar serve tacos as any Mexico City taquero would: from a sizzling griddle, a vat of stewing meat, and a small counter where guests happily eat standing—hands-on and unapologetically messy.

Al pastor spins on the trompo, shaved straight onto warm tortillas with pineapple. Suadero—slow-cooked beef confit—lands tender with crisped edges, while spicy longaniza melts into the lard-slicked corn tortilla beneath it. On Tuesdays, a cheesy Gringa al Pastor breaks the rules, grilled until melty between flour tortillas. Each taco comes bare, leaving onions, cilantro, and house salsa for you to finish.
