7-course menu at Friheden in Nørrebro — This natty wine hangout + kitchen turns up the heat with a Mediterranean-inspired feast
Wrapped in urban greenery, alive with smoke and flavor. Nørrebro’s favorite skatepark-side natural wine bar and restaurant isn’t letting the cold slow it down. As the days grow shorter, the nights at Friheden stretch longer, and the kitchen fires up the grills with a menu that leans hard into bold, Mediterranean flavors.
Charred sourdough flatbread is bathed in garlic butter and slathered in whatever seasonal dip the kitchen is drawn to in the moment—stracciatella with trout roe, labne beneath bright chimichurri. Padron peppers are blistered by the flames. Danish potatoes hit the table glossed in brown butter and herbs. Slow-braised lamb leg is flanked by grilled endives and a deep cherry sauce. Black pepper ice cream arrives heavy with apple caramel and shards of crystallised white chocolate.
Vibrant and evolving daily, it should come as no surprise that this summer hotspot is an irresistible winter refuge.
