At Uganda Ismejeri, nostalgia and novelty meet in a counter of 24 rotating ice cream flavors, ranging from timeless chocolate and vanilla to passionfruit panna cotta and sorbets that glow with ripe fruit infusions. Just outside, a cobblestoned courtyard connects the shop to its green grocer sister, where parasols invite guests to soak up the last golden rays of summer. Here, waffle cones brimming with pistachio scoops and cups heavy with soft serve are enjoyed alongside the abundance of the Danish growing seasons. Each batch of ice cream is churned with organic milk from Øllingegaard Mejeri, ensuring the finest expression of Danish dairy. And since the ice cream makers switch things up each week, the trip just outside the city always promises something new.

When they first opened Uganda Grønt over a decade ago, brothers and fourth-generation green grocers Michael and Christian Olsen knew they wanted to level up the family business. With a cornucopia of organic Danish dairy and fresh produce at the ready, only one path made sense: opening a no-fuss scoop shop that put quality ingredients at the forefront. So in 2019, they renovated the grocer’s adjoining 1900s farmhouse, sourced the finest inclusions from Italy, and launched Uganda Ismejeri. The nostalgia-driven ice cream shop on Ugandavej has been crafting flavorful ice creams and lasting memories ever since, becoming a beloved gathering place for locals and city dwellers alike.
