5-course menu at Epicurus in City Center – A New Nordic restaurant + contemporary jazz hall is the Gatsbyesque vision of a star-studded ensemble
Plates of pan-grilled hake and fried chicken crowned with Rossini caviar leave the pass. Interiors accented with smoked oak and Greco-Roman stone channel Gatsbyesque opulence through a contemporary lens, while musicians glide through the dining room toward the jazz hall below. Hailed by Forbes as a “first-in-class venue with excellent gastronomy,” Epicurus is both restaurant and jazz experience, split by two levels and backed by a supergroup boasting six Michelin stars between them, a world-class mixologist, and a knighted musician. Alongside chef Oliver Bergholt, formerly of Dragsholm Slot, they create a restaurant that seamlessly echoes the intimate stage beneath, where gastronomy, cocktails, and live jazz are all part of the same composition.

Enjoy a 5-course menu at Epicurus. The menu is chef’s choice, so dishes rotate regularly and reflect the best produce of the season. Begin with scallop crudo in a delicate tomato broth, featuring a trio of heirloom tomatoes – fermented, raw, and baked – anointed with pepper oil and horseradish. Enjoy warm sourdough focaccia served with salted butter. Continue with pan-grilled hake, paired with tender pointed cabbage, crisp daikon, and apple-butter foam. Next, savor yakitori-grilled beef, accompanied by silky black garlic purée and a grilled heart salad topped with fresh blackberries. To finish, indulge in raspberry sorbet layered over white chocolate-rose ganache, adorned with fermented rose petals and seasonal berries.

Before its debut last April, anticipation for Epicurus was already running high. Conceived by a powerhouse quartet – Lars Seier Christensen of Geranium and Alchemist, Mads Bøttger of the Michelin-starred Dragsholm Slot, Rasmus Shepherd-Lomborg of Ruby, and jazz pianist Sir Niels Lan Doky – it was destined to be a first-of-its-kind experience. Shortly after opening, Forbes praised the hybrid restaurant/cocktail bar/subterranean jazz hall for its restrained grandeur, and Berlingske called Epicurus “a world-class experience all the way around.” Most recently, it was nominated for Best Cultural Experience 2025, confirming what many Copenhageners already knew: Epicurus isn’t just new. It’s necessary.
