Here, founder Nickie Mydung – the force behind the dim-sum-centric Chiba and BAR MEIMEI – delivers fresh takes on the Chinese dishes she grew up making in her mother’s restaurant. Driven by deep-rooted nostalgia and a love for comfort food, CHOW BOX invites you to build your own “China box” from a lineup of handcrafted bases, saucy mains, and add-ons like crispy spring rolls and kimchi. It’s the same familiar format, reimagined with heart, heat, and flavor.
WHAT YOU GET
Pick any two chow boxes at CHOW BOX. One add-on is included in each box. Grab one of the few seats on sunny Store Kongengsgade or take it to go. Build your own China box from a lineup of handcrafted bases, proteins, sauces, toppings, and add-ons – or opt for one of CHOW’s signature combos. Start with your base: chili-oil-slicked spicy peanut noodles, savory fried egg noodles, fried rice, or fragrant jasmine rice. Choose a main like saucy orange chicken, black pepper beef, or Kung Pao tofu. Turn up the flavor with house-made chili oils and sauces, and top it all off with stir-fried seasonal greens, spring onions, sesame seeds, or sunflower seeds. Finish it all off with flavorful add-ons like crispy spring rolls, fried prawn wontons, seasonal kimchi, and more.

Restaurateur Nickie Mydung grew up behind the counter of her mother’s Chinese restaurant in Odense. Years later, she became a force in the Copenhagen food scene, establishing District Tonkin and BUKA before moving onto more personal pursuits: heartfelt homages to the Chinese dishes she was raised on. In November 2024, she opened Chiba in Vesterbro, a dim sum bar that paired dumplings with dj sets, followed by the more low-key BAR MEIMEI in City Center. Today, with CHOW BOX, Nickie channels the essence of those projects into a new takeaway experience – one rooted in memory and appreciation of comfort food done right.
