Pick any two gyro combos at Yeerro – With five stars in Berlingske, former Iluka sous chef has gotten high praise for his laid-back gyro bar in City Center
Fluffy pitas piled high with everything from slow-roasted pork and marinated chicken to grilled celeriac and mushrooms. This Greek street food staple is unmistakable, and if you’ve ever been unsure how to pronounce ‘gyro’, Yeerro will show you the way. Better yet, they’ll show you what real-deal gyros taste like. With great respect for Greek tradition, they add a few refined twists and make sure everything is well-seasoned. After all, as Yeerro’s co-owner and former Iluka sous chef Martin Steininger will tell you, ‘The difference between good food and bad food is often a pinch of salt.’ In this case, the difference between good gyros and great gyros is their perfectly cooked proteins and tangy homemade tzatziki.

On the window they’ve written ‘Eat, Sleep, Gyros, Repeat’, and we’re here for that kind of lifestyle. Apparently, so is Berlingske, who awarded Yeerro five stars at the beginning of last year. Here, a small but mighty team dishes out Greek gyros, service with a smile, and retsina – lots and lots of retsina. Located on lively Gothersgade, they’re even open late on weekends. The space is small, the menu is simple, the beer and wine fridge is always full, and the ten or so seats are in demand all day long.
