Pick whatever you like at Rondo in Nørrebro – With mentions in The Washington Post, BBC, Vogue, and more, the world agrees this bakery is one of Copenhagen’s very best

It has the soul of a true neighborhood spot, but even people from across the city and around the world are enamored with this little bakery. Rest assured, the popularity hasn’t gone to their heads – their laser focus on local grains, exceptional flavor, and 100% organic ingredients is unfaltering. Meanwhile, their lineup of breads and pastries rotates regularly, with innovative savory creations popping up next to refined sweet classics. If you can’t choose between a cardamom bun and a ‘cacio e pepe’ spandauer, your best bet is to go ahead and get both. A lot is happening on the Copenhagen bakery scene these days, but Rondo remains one of the very best.

Pick whatever you like at Rondo. Enjoy bread, pastries, sandwiches, and more, all made with 100% organic ingredients. Bite into a bechamel and caramelized onion spandauer, or opt for a savory spinach and feta swirl. Crunch on almond croissants, plain croissants, or chocolate chip cookies with sea salt. Snag sourdough buns, either plain or with Vesterhavsost and leek baked in. Better yet, make it a BMO. Snack on cardamom buns and cinnamon swirls. Devour a focaccia sandwich with mortadella, radicchio, parmesan, and walnut pesto, or try a veggie version with curried cauliflower, apricot chutney, spinach, and apple. Shop their selection of deli items, which includes cheeses from Thise and Arla Unika, coffee beans from Coffee Collective, olive oil, wine, local beer, and more.

Back in the day, the team at Gaarden & Gaden used to bake bread in their compact kitchen during off-hours. Then in 2021, owner Thomas Spelling cycled past a nearby location, saw a ‘For Sale’ sign, and decided their sourdough deserved a dedicated space. Rondo was born, and it’s since grown into one of the city’s best bakeries – a lofty title in a carb-obsessed city like Copenhagen, but media outlets around the world heartily concur. Head baker, Robert Agren, embraces the dynamic nature of baking; just as a ‘rondo’ is a repeating piece of music that has nuances each time it’s played, Rondo’s recipes are consistently top-notch but ever-evolving.
