Pick whatever you like at Bang Bang Izakaya in Frederiksberg — A family-run taste of Tokyo’s side-street izakayas
Japan’s neighborhood izakayas keep Cathrine and Lars Østerberg coming back. At Bang Bang Izakaya, they put three decades of sushi craft behind small plates rooted in Japanese barroom tradition. With their son working the room, it’s a family affair that takes hot karaage and cold highballs to heart.
Chicken karaage arrives with tartar sauce, crunchy chili oil, and spring onion. Salmon tartare gets prawn crackers for scooping, while fried oyster mushrooms come with chili mayo. Japanese potato salad earns a spot beside sashimi. Sapporo comes on draft, whisky and umeshu get the highball treatment, and sake is poured with generosity.
Mark your choices on the paper menu, order a few plates, and let dinner unfold a round at a time.
