4-course menu at Espehus Kro in Rødovre — 25 minutes from Copenhagen, chef Rasmus Lund Jonasson breathes new life into a historic inn surrounded by parkland
Hidden among lush greenery and winding paths, Espehus Kro feels a world away despite being just 25 minutes from Copenhagen. After years spent cooking in New York and Italy, chef Rasmus Lund Jonasson returned home to bring fresh perspective and local ingredients to a 1901 inn long steeped in tradition.
At Espehus Kro, Jonasson serves a menu as vibrant as the landscape itself. Pâte brisée filled with smoked fresh cheese and peas. House-smoked salmon layered with trout roe, mustard seeds, and tapioca pearls, spooned onto crisp lettuce leaves like caviar. Grilled pork neck with broccolini, potato purée, herb oil, and jus. Flame-kissed apricots finished with salted caramel, toasted sesame, and Chantilly cream.
Come for dinner. Stay for the feeling that the city is much farther away than it really is.
