Great wine bars are rare. Great wine bars with kitchens to match are rarer still. Den Vandrette is both. Owned by Rosforth & Rosforth—one of Denmark’s oldest wine importers and a supplier to Copenhagen’s restaurant scene since 1994—the intimate harbor-side spot has long been ahead of the low-intervention curve.
The ritual here is simple: browse the cellar, pick your bottle, and settle in with locally sourced, internationally inspired plates. Cheesy khachapuri arrives bubbling and golden. Duck prosciutto is cured on-site. Georgian ambers, Chilean reds, and Loire Valley Sauvignon Blancs pour by the glass alongside flavorful small plates—cecina de León with pickled mustard and fried sourdough, cured trout glossed in Danish soy with stracciatella and trout roe, celeriac schnitzel with potato foam and kimchi.
Ask any chef where they spend their night off, and the answer is likely Den Vandrette.
