Pick whatever you like at Margo’s in Oud-West and Jordaan — Sharp viennoiserie and loaded focaccia go plant-based without missing a beat
Margo Abdine set out to crack the plant-based croissant. Somewhere along the way, she and her husband Ayden built one of Amsterdam’s defining bakeries. What began as a tiny Jordaan takeaway shop quickly expanded into a second, larger location in Oud-West, where anyone can walk in and leave convinced: some of the city’s best bakes are plant-based.
The lineup reads classic, but nothing is quite what it seems. The ham-and-cheese croissant comes filled with seitan ham and a house-developed plant-based cheese. Pepperoni-topped focaccia and chocolate-hazelnut cakes hit with familiar indulgence. Pain au chocolat lands properly flaky and loaded with fair-trade chocolate. Seasonal danishes and brioche shift from rhubarb-almond to pistachio-rose, while coffee from local and European roasters keeps the morning moving.
Precision baking and standout flavors. The plant-based part is just the plot twist.
